Anthony Imamura

Chef Educator

Born and raised in North Carolina, Anthony has made Washington, D.C., his home base since 2001. He has combined his dual degrees in architecture (University of Colorado, Boulder) and culinary arts (California Culinary Academy, San Francisco) for more than 30 years in the hospitality and food service industry. Formerly with Whole Foods Market, he served as mid-Atlantic store development and design construction coordinator. He is a former associate with YuiDesign, Inc., specializing in custom commercial kitchen design for star chefs and institutions. His current focus is in the emerging field of teaching kitchen design/culinary medicine education. He is the chef educator-in-residence at MedStar Institute for Innovation (MI2); chef educator for Culinary Medicine with MedStar Health Fresh & Savory program; and kitchen design advisor to the Teaching Kitchen Collaborative (TKC).

His lifelong passions for cooking and design blend seamlessly with his ability to create the culinary learning labs where both knowledge and education are shared. Beyond the design profession, he builds upon a vast network of professional and personal contacts. He enjoys connecting national as well as local organizations and individuals in search of long-term solutions to their current challenges. He serves on the Georgetown Lombardi Arts & Humanities Advisory Council; numerous charitable development committees; and is a former board member of See Forever Foundation/Maya Angelou Public Charter Schools. A frequent guest speaker and presenter, he balances his professional work schedule by heavily investing in time spent together with family and friends over shared meals, in engaging conversations, and at joyous celebrations and occasions.
