Certifications

MedStar Health SiTEL offers courses that are recognized by the emergency provider community to prepare learners to respond to critical situations. Upon successful completion of these courses, participants receive certification and satisfy requirements for licensing and practice in their respective areas. MedStar Health SiTEL currently offers American Heart Association (AHA) and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) courses.

American Heart Association emergency cardiovascular care courses

As an authorized American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center, MedStar Health SiTEL supports the mission of the American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care Program to reduce disability and death from acute circulatory and respiratory emergencies, including stroke, by improving the chain of survival in every community and healthcare system. For healthcare providers, we offer a number of courses in emergency cardiovascular care, including Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support courses.

MedStar Health SiTEL also offers courses for individuals in the community who do not have medical training but wish to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. These courses teach participants how to perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation, use an automatic external defibrillator (AED), and provide care until emergency personnel arrives. Upon successful completion of the course, learners receive a completion card which can be used for employment, regulatory, or other requirements.

National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) courses

Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) is the gold standard of education for emergency medical assessment and treatment. Learners gain familiarity with common medical crises through realistic case-based scenarios that explore a range of clinical topics. AMLS is appropriate for emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurse anesthetists, and physicians.

Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is a continuing education program for prehospital emergency trauma care. It provides the knowledge and key principles EMS practitioners need to make reasoned decisions regarding patient care in the critical prehospital phase of an emergency. PHTLS is appropriate for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physician assistants, physicians, and other prehospital providers.

Accreditations
