Clinical Informaticist and Developer
Kevin Maloy, M.D. is a Clinical Informaticist and Developer for the MedStar Institute for Innovation (MI2) where he collaborates with various nurses and doctors at most MedStar hospitals to make novel software. If an associate has problem they feel software should be able to solve, Kevin makes it happen, and usually quickly. Projects have included point of care iPad rounding tools for patient satisfaction, situational awareness and seamless high risk alerting systems for Emergency Departments, residency evaluation systems in the context of ACGME’s milestones initiative, and a push notification system for laboratory results in the operating rooms. He is skilled in front end web app development as well as backend api development and database management. His favorite tools include Sublime Text 2 and node.js, although he currently thinks yeoman is pretty cool as well.
Kevin works clinically as an Attending Physician in the Emergency Department at Medstar Washington Hospital Center. In addition to seeing patients in the trenches, he assists in various departmental quality improvement projects as well as departmental research initiatives. Kevin received his M.D. from Georgetown University. He completed his residency at Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center where he was both Chief Resident and Scholar of the Year. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Art in English with a Concentration in Poetry from Georgetown University.
